Yesterday we reported that mayoral candidate Becky Brewster had filed paperwork for an official recount of the votes for the mayor's race.
Mayor Pro-Tem Pam Young told the Advocate late yesterday that the recount will take place on Tuesday, May 20, at 9 a.m. The Advocate will report the outcome of the recount as soon as the final tally is made available.
The city secretary posted results last week showing that Glenn Humphries had received 222 votes, while Ms. Brewster received 198 votes.
“I respect Becky's decision to ask for a formal recount,” said Mayor-Elect Glenn Humphries. “I will be present at the recount. I thank everyone who voted for me and supported me for mayor, and regardless of the outcome, I will respect the decision.”
