Uranga, Seyffert place 3rd in El Paso debate tournament

The Van Horn High School Cross-Examination Debate Team, composed of Camille Uranga and Kyle Syffert competed in the Chapin High School Texas Forensic Association state qualifying meet over the weekend in El Paso. Unlike UIL events, TFA meets allow students who place first in their contest to qualify for the state TFA meet, held at about the same time as UIL. Sixteen schools, including Chapin, Jefferson Eastwood, Franklin, Burgess, Montwood, Parkland, Mountain View, Coronado,, Loretto Academy, Del Valle, Bel Air, Hanks, Ysleta, Americas and Van Horn participated in the tournament. All of these schools are much larger than VHHS and hold daily debate classes. The local team came home Saturday evening with a 3rd Place win and a lot of experience. They represented CCAISD among the giants. They will participate in other events before February. Congratulations to Camille and Kyle!
