CCAISD trustees on Monday voted to approve Lead Your School, a search firm from The Woodlands, for the new superintendent.

Board president Paul Uranga presented trustees six options of search firms. The former superintendent, Marc Puig, was hired through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) search division.

Mr. Uranga reported that he had contacted six firms, including: Waterford, Region 14 Abilene, Pro-Act, Lead Your School , CCR and TASB.

Lead Your School will charge CCAISD $8,800 plus travel expenses for the superintendent search. Mr. Uranga said he and the school board will meet with the firm as early as next week.

Trustees went into closed session to discuss “Matters Concerning Personnel” and “Employee Resignation.” In open session, Mr. Uranga announced that no action was taken; however Interim Superintendent Debbie Engle said that she had received a letter of resignation from Beverly Corrales. Trustees voted 5-2, in the first divided vote since Mr. Puig was superintendent. Voting against the resignation were Sandy Urias and Angie Gonzales.

In other action, trustees:
•    Approved the sale of four lots on 62/180 to Samuel Flores;
•    Interim Superintendent Debbie Engle reported that current student enrollment was 433; 191 elementary students and 242 secondary students. Attendance rate is 94 percent.
