Robert Lewis Jones, 77, of Van Horn, passed away on June 11, 2015 in Big Spring, TX. Robert was born in Long Beach, CA to Russell Lynn Jones and Floy Kathryn Schopp Jones on October 7, 1937. He graduated from Austin High School in El Paso in 1956. He excelled in track and set the school record in the 440 yard race. Robert joined the Navy in 1957. He pursued a career in hotel management and ultimately received a PhD through his various academic studies. He is survived by his son Russell Lynn Jones II and wife Jennifer Dawn Jones and grandson Haven Asher Jones of Odessa. Robert is also survived by his brother John T. Jones and wife Vicky Jones of Van Horn and brother in-law Robert Perrin of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving him are his nephews Charles Perrin (Amy), Russell Perrin (Terry), Jerrod Jones (Amanda), and nieces, Karla Franco (Michael), Darlene Tietze (Ray), and Jenna Jones-Sheridan (Michael). Also, surviving is his niece Natalya Perrin. Preceding Robert in death are his parents Russell and Kathryn Jones, Sister Sue Carolyn Perrin and nephew Richard Stephen Perrin and great niece Danika Perrin. A remembrance will be held at the Hotel El Capitan in Van Horn on Friday, June 19 at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Van Horn Cemetery.
