El Cosmico to present 10th Annual Trans-Pecos Festival Sept. 24-27

The 10th Annual Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love, El  Cosmico’s authentic music experience is taking place in Marfa from September 24 – 27. The lineup performers include renowned artists such as Portugal, The Man, Phosphorescent, Jenny Lewis, and Ben Kweller, alongside an eclectic array of folk, rock, country, indie, Americana musicians and bands.

On Thursday, American singer, songwriter and IMA’s “Best Rock Album” winner Ben Kweller will take the stage, along with acts from Jenny Lewis, the acclaimed singer, songwriter and former front-woman of Rilo Kiley. Friday’s arrangement will include the Mexican Institute of Sound, an electronic music project created by Mexico City-based DJ Camilo Lara, along with Nashville-based singer, songwriter Jessie Baylin, and vocalist and rapper Meshell Ndegeocello, who’s tunes infuse soul, jazz, hip hop, reggae and rock. The festivities will close with Saturday’s headliners, Portland-based indie band Portugal.

The Man, who is currently producing its latest album with Mike D of The Beastie Boys, and Phosphorescent. Additional acts will be announced soon.
Trans-Pecos goes beyond the music and offers festivalgoers the chance to camp in one of the most authentic venues in the remote West Texas desert, while cultivating the communal and artistic engagement that El Cosmico celebrates.

This year, the festival brings a greater variety of engaging activities and events to the forefront, such as unique workshops from crafting bitters/liqueurs to a Dutch Oven cooking class, a vendor area with anti-mall wares by local makers, Tarot card readings, a sandlot baseball game on Saturday afternoon, transformative massage treatments at El Cosmetico, and a community dinner on Saturday night. Weekend Festival passes, along with camping, dinner and workshop registration, are now available on the Trans-Pecos Festival page at elcosmico.com.
