On your mark, get set, GO

On behalf of the Beef Love Run 5k organizers, Janna Stubbs, Debbie Aufdengarten and Jennifer Sproul, we would like to extend a huge thank you to all that participated, volunteered and supported our successful event in Valentine on Valentine’s Day.  A big thank you to Miss Jessie “Peanut” Garcia, a VISD student, who designed the love stamp that was used on all our advertisements. This year we registered approximately 94 enthusiastic runners and walkers from all over the state.  The Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County benefited from our event with 94 pounds of lean ground beef donated to their cause by each participant bringing one pound of lean ground beef.  Additionally, we were able to donate funds to the Valentine Community Center to help their needs as well.  Our winners were:  Overall winners Male- Jake Guthrie 18:53 Female- Paige Kinucan 21:32, 13-18 Male– Jake Guthrie 18:53, Female- Kayla Grado 25:31, 19-30 Male-Kyle Kerley 22:59 Female-Paige Kinucan 21:32, 31-40 Matthew Chavez 23:33, Molly McCarthy 23:58, 41-50 Male- Robert Polanco 23:57, Female- Allyson McDonald 27:11, 51-60 Male- Fred Martinez 26:29, Sylvia Nelson & Stacy Tucker- 28:40 61+ Male- Glenn Freidline  41:48, Jean Anne Fort 46:54.  Our sponsors this year included:  Aufdengarten Cattle Co., Big Bend Trailers, Big Bend Telephone, Capital Farm Credit, Fort Davis State Bank, Lonnie & Sandy Flippen, HighWest Outfitter, Dr. Iris Korus, Liz Rogers, Albert & Maralea Miller, Mountain View Properties, Porters Thriftway, Printco, Sproul Family Ranch and Stubbs Cattle Co.
