Boots and Scoops opened for business this week. Although the business is under The Van Horn Cattle Company, and right next door, Starvanna Cottrell is operating and managing the ice cream parlor herself. The ice cream is Henry’s Premium Homemade Ice Cream made in Texas. Homemade treats and specialty beverages will also be served.
Starvanna Cottrell will be starting her junior year at New Mexico State University in the fall. She is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. “Opening my own business has always been an aspiration of mine, so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and make it happen,” Star said. “I am ready to start applying the things I have learned in school and I thought Boots and Scoops would be a great summer project and an asset to my community,” she added.
Her goals are to provide Van Horn with an enjoyable service and to gain personal experience that will help her grow in school and in her future career. “I hope Boots and Scoops will be a delicious benefit to our community and those traveling through.” “I invite everyone to stop by and give us a taste! “
