The Garcia sisters, Jaci and Jessie, continue to prepare for the District 9A golf tournament. This past Monday, March 27, the girls participated in the Marfa Shorthorn Invitational Tournament in Marfa and played on the highest golf course in the state. Both were playing as medalists and Jaci shot a 117 to win first place. Jessie shot a 127 and claimed the bronze medal for her efforts. She was four strokes out of second place which was won by a young lady from Marfa.
The district tournament will be played in Marfa next Wednesday, April 5th. Teams expected to participate include Sierra Blanca, Fort Davis, Big Bend, and Marfa. The top two teams will advance to the regional tournament in San Angelo on April 24 and 25. As Valentine does not have a team, Jaci and Jessie will once again be competing as medalists with the top two individuals also advancing to San Angelo in late April.
