Obituaries – Thomas (Tom) Taber

Thomas (Tom) Wayne Taber, 68, of Lubbock passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.  Tom lost a lengthy battle with ALS, but is victorious in meeting His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in Heaven.  Tom was a lifelong Christian who not only shared his love of Sacred Scripture, but lived his life honoring and glorifying God with his faithfulness, positive attitude, and love for others. Tom loved life! His favorite expression was:  “Life is beautiful!”  He will be remembered as a man who put others first, loved his family above himself, and honored his many friends. Tom was raised in Van Horn, Texas and moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1968 to attend Texas Tech University where he earned a BS in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Economics.  Tom spent over thirty years traveling the South Plains as a manufacturer’s sales representative before becoming a local home builder.

Tom was born October 5, 1948, in Dallas, Texas to Jesse Taber and Margaret (Conoly) Taber. Tom was preceded in death by both parents.

Tom married Patsy Swafford Taber on March 21, 1975, and they were blessed with one son, Tom Taber of San Marcos and his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Krisha Taber Davidson of Lubbock and her husband, Jonathan; Caprice Taber Langlois of Lubbock and her husband, Jamie.  Tom wasl also a wonderful Papa to eight grandchildren:  Brooke Taber, Jayden Taber, Kailee Davidson, Zana Davidson, Zealyn Davidson, Taia Langlois, Kase Langlois, and Taber Langlois.

Survivors include two brothers, Curtis Taber and wife Eleanor of Forestburg, Texas and Dan Taber and wife Jill of Schulenburg, Texas; Godson, Justin Bennett; sister-in-law, Linda Bennett; brother-in-law, Jerry Swafford and wife Nancy; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosary Prayer Service will be at Christ the King Cathedral, Lubbock, Texas on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Cathedral, Lubbock, Texas on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.  followed by interment at Lamesa Memorial Cemetery.
