Eagles Take Two from the Mustangs

The Eagles hosted the Fort Hancock Mustangs on Friday, April 21st. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead over Fort Hancock. The Eagles combined for 7 RBI’s off 9 hits. Landon Drake and Damien Tarango each had a triple while Alex Urias hit two doubles. Luis Escajeda pitched 7 strong innings for the Eagles. He allowed just three hits and gave up one earned run. Escajeda fanned 6 batters to earn the win. The Eagles topped off Fort Hancock, 7-1.

In the second game of the double header, Van Horn jumped out to a 2 run lead in the bottom of the 2nd with an inside the park homerun by Isaac Baeza. The Eagles were led offensively by James King who scored three runs for the Eagles while he had three hits in his four at bats. The Eagles combined for 14 hits and 7 RBI’s. On the mound for the Eagles, Juan Zamora pitched 4 1/3 strong innings. Zamora fanned 9 batters and gave up two runs off just 5 hits. Landon Drake sealed the game for Van Horn with 2 2/3 strong innings. Drake struck out three batters and allowed just one hit in his relief appearance. With the two wins, the Eagles put themselves in a must win situation against the McCamey Badgers.
