Members of the Culberson County Appraisal District (CCAD) met on Tuesday, May 9, with Angie Gonzales, Raul Rodriguez, Lolo Urias, and Jack Dorris present.
Numerous local citizens were on hand to learn the fate of property located at 101 Leon Street which is subject to a Sheriff’s sale for taxes. After a lengthy Executive Session, these citizens seemed disappointed to hear that any action was tabled pending legal review by Attorney Jim Evans.
CCAD accepted the services of SBNG, a firm of certified public accountants from El Paso, for preparing the Fiscal Year 2016 Audit. The cost for services was not disclosed; however, CCAD Manager Chello Gonzales stated that the cost was comparable to those paid last year.
CCAD members approved Chief Appraiser Maricel G. Gonzales’s evaluation per Attorney Evans’ recommendations.
Members were made aware by Mrs. Gonzales that the CCAD offices will be closed on August 14-15, 2017 to allow employees to attend the Legislative Update Seminar in The Woodlands, Texas.
Members were also made aware that enhanced and enlarged Culberson County maps are available for purchase in the CCAD office for $5. These maps are now printed in the FEDEX offices in El Paso and are available to anyone.
The next scheduled meeting will be June 13.
