Obituary- David Garcia

It is said that a true heart of a man is measured by how much he loves and gives of himself. David Garcia of Van Horn, Texas was that kind of man. He entered eternal life on March 23, 2019 in San Angelo, Texas with his loving wife Val and daughters by his side, David was 44.

David was born on May 9th, 1974 in El Paso, Texas to Jose Tomas Garcia and Juanita (Rodriguez) Garcia. He was a graduate of Fabens High School and held many certificates and an associate degree. He was employed by Windstream as a network technician.

A visitation for David will be held on Friday, March 29th, 2019 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Van Horn, Texas. Praying of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, March 29th, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Lupe Alvarado. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Apolinar Samboni serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Van Horn Cemetery.

David was a very modest and hard-working man. He loved his family and would do anything for them, being a constant and dedicated caregiver to them. David enjoyed various activities, however, he enjoyed a life long hobby of being an avid gun collector and marksman. He enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Preceding David in death was his father Jose Tomas Garcia, one brother Victor Garcia, and his beloved fur baby Jelly Bean.

Those left to honor and cherish the memory of David is his wife Valerie “Val” (Mendoza) Garcia of Van Horn, his mother Juanita Rodriguez of Fabens, his two sons Ruben Florez, III of Van Horn, Jeremy Adam Florez of Van Horn, his daughters Salena Florez of Van Horn, and Marissa Monique Mendoza of Van Horn. His brothers Jose “Pepe” Garcia, Jr. of Fabens, Arturo Garcia of Fabens, his sisters Imelda Garcia of Fabens, Aurora Garcia of Fabens, Alicia Garcia of Washington State, 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, his mother in law Virginia Mendoza of Van Horn, as well as all his wonderful and beloved friends. David is further survived by two exceptional friends Marcus Wright and Mike Castner.

The family wishes to thank all of those who have Blessed the family in the recent months. With out your support and love, we would not have been able to get through this trying time. You all have been a wonderful Blessing in our life’s, and for this we will be eternally grateful.

One of David’s favorite sayings “I am like a tumble weed, I keep rolling on.” As these days week and months come, we ask that all of you remember this, and just “keep rolling on” for this is what David would have truly wanted.
