Obituary— Perfecta M. Fuentes
With her beloved husband by her side, Perfecta M. Fuentes, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and a lifelong resident of Van Horn, Texas, entered eternal life on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the age of 79.
Perfecta was born on December 2, 1940 in Fabens, Texas, to Ladislado Melendez and Elena Razo. In November of 1959, she married the love of her life Ernest Fuentes and together they had four children. She was a devoted Catholic throughout her entire life.
Visitation for Perfecta was held on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Heritage Funeral Home in Van Horn. Services for Perfecta were held on Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Van Horn Cemetery Gazebo with Father Frank Hernandez serving as Funeral Celebrant and musical accompaniment by Rick Ruiz. Burial followed at the Fuentes Family plot.
Those serving as pallbearers were Harvey Melendez, Jacob Fierro, Dezi Benavidez, Michael Fuentes, Davin Fuentes, and Jax Fuentes.
Perfecta opened her own bridal, quince boutique in Van Horn that she started out of her home. After doing so well, her business outgrew her home and she opened “Perfecta’s Bridal, Tuxedo and Floral.” She owned and operated this business for over 30 years. She loved to dance, cook, sew, knit and was very creative.
Perfecta would do anything that she could to help others in need. She would bless her friends and family by hand crafting rosaries out of silk flowers. She always made sure that her family had everything they needed. Perfecta would often be found on Sundays, cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She loved to drink coffee all the time as well as eating pan de huevo.
Perfecta is preceded in death by her parents and one son Antonio Fuentes.
Those left to cherish and honor the memory of Perfect is her husband Ernesto Fuentes, Sr.; sons Edwardo Fuentes and wife Kathy of Odessa and Ernesto Fuentes, Jr. and wife Alma of Odessa; daughter Rosario Fuentes and husband Alfredo of Odessa; brothers Manuel Melendez and Juan Melendez; sister Mary Melendez; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as many beloved friends. Perfecta will be missed by all.
