Obituary— Eugenio Lozano

Eugenio “Genio” Lopez Lozano, age 63, passed away in Odessa, Texas on November 23, 2020. He was born in Lomas de Arena, Chih. Mexico on May 31, 1957 to Elijio and Tomasa Lozano. Genio was a lifelong resident of Van Horn, he was an outdoorsman, he loved to be out at the ranch with his cattle and taking his grandchildren horseback riding. Even though he wasn’t an NFL fan he would love to make bets with them against the Dallas Cowboys.

Genio also enjoyed spending time welding, doing carpentry and making everything on his own. While working on the family home he laid flat rock and made the floor. He also loved the quality time he spent with his family and friends. He always prepared Chile Colorado con pollo. His favorite dessert was pineapple upside-down cake. His favorite candy bars were Paydays and Almond Joys. Genio enjoyed telling jokes and funny stories, especially the one where he fought with a deer.

He was a caring husband, father and grandpa. He will truly be missed. Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Eva Lozano of Van Horn, his sons: Tomas and his wife Linda Lozano of Phoenix, Mario and his wife Rosaura Lozano of Odessa, Elijio and his wife Karen Lozano of Midland and Omar Lozano of Van Horn. Genio is also survived by his brothers; Manuel, Roberto, Gerardo, Tomas, Faustino and one sister Enriqueta Lopez. Genio was blessed with seven grandchildren: Tabarius, Ejenio, Roseneria, Denise, Little Omar, Amaya and Emiliano.

A funeral service was held at the Van Horn Cemetery Gazebo on December 1, 2020, officiated by Hermano Pablo Baeza of Van Horn. The burial followed at the family plot. Pallbearers serving were Tomas Lozano, Mario Lozano, Omar Lozano, Elijio Lozano, Saul Lozano, Adrian Franco, Juan Apodaca and Luis Corral.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn Texas.
