Wanda Hopkins Patterson

Wanda Hopkins was born in Stanton, Texas, to parents, Jim and Ada Hopkins on August 29, 1929. At the age of 91, she died peacefully in her daughter’s home in San Antonio on December 27, 2020.

On September 30, 1948, she married William (Pat) Patterson and moved to Midland. In 1964 they moved with their three children, Jimmy, Maurine, and Deborah to Alpine. They owned and operated an independent Borden’s milk distributorship for many years. In 1987 Wanda and Pat returned to Midland for retirement and to be closer to family.

Wanda loved her family, spending time with them and friends. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing cards and games, bowling, solving word puzzles, and watching TV. She was not athletically inclined but loved watching sports on TV, especially hockey.

Wanda is preceded in death by her spouse, William (Pat) Patterson; parents, Jim and Ada Hopkins; and sister, Maurine Pate. She is survived by her brother, Eldon Hopkins of Midland; three children and their spouses, Jimmy and Rebecca Patterson of Van Horn; Maurine and Mike Pattillo of San Antonio; Deborah and Darrell Edwards of Midland. Also four grandchildren, Michael Pattillo, Jr., Patrick Pattillo, William Patterson, and Samantha Edwards. She had six great grandchildren, Max and Artie Pattillo, Owen and Jack Pattillo, Liam and Everett Patterson. Wanda is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Wanda was so loved by family and friends. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace in God’s loving arms, watching over us from heaven until we are united again.

The Graveside Service under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin was held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 11am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas.
