Obituary— Celestino Garcia
Celestino “Celes” Garcia 71, passed away peacefully in Denver City, Texas on August 26, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born to Celestino and Atocha Garcia in Anahuac, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 12, 1951. He married his best friend Francisca Rivas in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico on December 15, 1974.
Celes worked in the farming industry around the Van Horn, Texas area for 25 years before going to work as a custodian for Culberson County-Allamoore Independent School District where he retired in 2012. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Celes was a family man that enjoyed gatherings with his family. There was nothing Celes could not fix or attempt to fix and he enjoyed the outdoors. Even though he preferred being at home, you could always find him at his grandchildren’s events. He enjoyed the simpler things in life, like playing cards with his kids and grandkids. His sharp wit, sense of humor and generous heart will be greatly missed.
Celes was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Carley Faith Garcia; and four brothers, Manuel, Luis, Esteban and Daniel Garcia.
Celes is survived by his wife of 47 years, Francisca; daughter Erika and Ty of Denver City, son Carlos and wife Kristal of Slaton, and daughter Maribel of Van Horn; grandson Daniel and wife Kelsey Garcia, and granddaughters Bailey and Emiley Garcia; great grandson Zane Carter Garcia; sisters Gloria Garcia and Yolanda Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church starting at 5 PM with a rosary beginning at 7 PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 2nd at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 308 Almond Street with burial to follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving are Danial Garcia, Jesus Chavez, Oscar Ochoa, Omar Ogaz, Erick Rivas, Guadalupe Acosta, Enrique Rivas Jr. and Ignacio Ochoa. Honorary: Zane Carter Garcia
The family would like to thank all our family and friends for all their support during our beloved husband, father and Tata’s brief illness.
