Obituary— Alfredo Navarrete

Alfredo Navarrete age 84 residing in Valentine, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2023. He was born on January 12, 1939 and grew up at Rancho La Boquillita, Coyame Chihuahua, Mexico.

He was a funny, witty old timer and an excellent horseman. In his younger years he had a passion for bronc riding and story has it he was tough and fearless which made him hard to beat.

At age 31 he married the love of his life Maria Calderon and together had one son Jesus Navarrete. He was also a father figure to six nephews, Juan “Chumel” Navarrete, Norberto Navarrete, Eugenio “Pepe” Navarrete, Eugenio Nunez, Ramon Rodriguez and Carlos “Calili” Nunez. They would all agree he set high standards, loved unconditionally, and he was their idol. He lived a full life on the ranch enjoying the simple pleasures of life – riding, roping and spending quality time with family and friends.

Alfredo is survived by his wife Maria of 53 years, their son Jesus (Chuy) and wife Lety Navarrette. Grandchildren Angelica, Demetrio, and Enrique. Great grandchildren Alejandra, Nicholas, and Mateo.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.

Funeral services for Alfredo were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valentine, Texas on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Officiated by Father Victorino of Marfa..

Pallbearers serving were Demetrio Navarrete, Enrique Navarrete, Marcelo Urias, Pepe Navarrete, Chumel Navarrete and Norberto Navarrete.

Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
