Obituary – Margie Marie Brookshier

Margie Marie Brookshier, 91, passed away peacefully at the
Compassionate Care Center West (Hospice of El Paso) on August 25, 2013.

She was a resident of Horizon City for 36 years. She was born in
Tokeen, TX on January 18, 1922 to George Floy and Molly Maude (Moore)
England. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1939. She married
Curry C Brookshier on August 27, 1939 in Paint Rock, TX.

He preceded her in death on February 23, 2000 after sixty years of marriage.

Curry and Margie traveled all over the world with his work as an
Agricultural Advisor for USAID. They lived in Afghanistan (1952-1957),
Chile (1957-1963), Pakistan (1963-1970), and retired from Lima, Peru
(1970-1974). Upon retirement to Horizon City, Curry planted a pecan
orchard in Van Horn, TX. The orchard operation is now run by their son
Kyle Brookshier.

Margie was a beautiful woman and was an integral part of the success
of Curry's Foreign Service. She loved to write poetry and lyrics for
country western songs. She sang as a girl with her brothers and sister.
She could not read music but could sing a song after she heard it, in
perfect pitch and harmony. She played the piano, banjo, guitar, and
harmonica. She could make the harmonica talk to you. She will be greatly
missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her children Lee B. Davis (John) of Hartfield, VA,
Kyle Brookshier (Nina) of Van Horn, TX, and Annis B. Carter of Oviedo,
FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren Sabrina Klunder (Kurt) of
Virginia, Michael Moscoso (Debbie) of Virginia, Kyla Brookshier of San
Marcos, Patrick Brookshier (Yvette) of El Paso, and Joshua, Jacob, and
