Eleno De La Rosa Mendez, 58, passed away in Ft. Worth on Feb. 8, 2014. He was born in Van Horn on March 16, 1955. He is survived by his son, Eleno Mendez III, his daughters, Jerry Ramirez and husband Gilbert of Joshua, Texas, Annette Yanez and her husband Rosendo of Big Spring, and his daughter by heart Monica McWhorter of Odessa. He is also survived by his two sisters: Chita Mendez of Van Horn, and Norma Mendez of Odessa, his two brothers: Gogo Mendez of Van Horn, and George Mendez of Odessa. Eleno was blessed with 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eleno Sr. and Christina Mendez. A viewing will be held at Carrillo Funeral Home on Thursday Feb. 13, 2014 at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday Feb. 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. A burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Gilbert Ramirez, Estevon Ramirez, Rosendo Yanez, GoGo Mendez, Beto Mendez and Ruben Mendez. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to CarrilloFuneral Home of Van Horn.
