Rodriguez wins runoff for Precinct 2 with slightest margin

Voter turnout for Tuesday’s runoff election was minimal, perhaps because of voter apathy after several elections this year.

Nonetheless, a sufficient number of voters cast their ballots in Precinct 2 for the contested county commissioner’s seat, and Raul Rodriguez won that bid by two votes against challenger Robert Alvarado. The official vote count was Raul Rodriguez, 106 votes, and Robert Alvarado, 104 votes.

The obvious question now remains as to whether Mr. Alvarado will seek a recount based upon the razor-thin margin of two votes.

As of press time on Wednesday, the Advocate was unable to reach Mr. Alvarado for comment.
