Maria A. Urias, age 88, passed away on June 18, 2014 in Carlsbad, NM. She was born in Pilares, TX, on March 25, 1926. She is survived by her two sons along with their wives, and her seven daughters along with their husbands: Lolo and Rosa Emma Urias of Van Horn, Chayo and Petra Urias of Hobbs, NM, Marica and Ramon Sanchez of Van Horn, Manuela and Jesus Becerra of Van Horn, Luz and Armando Gonzalez of Van Horn, Teresa and Chavelo Mora of Sublette, KS, Socorro and Raymundo Gandara of Carlsbad, Gloria and Gavino Gonzales of Carlsbad, and Anabel and Oscar Garcia of Carlsbad. Maria is also survived by her three brothers: Octavio Alvarado of Van Horn, Raul Alvarado of Anton, TX and Pedro Franco of Andrews. Maria was blessed with twenty-three grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren and fourteen great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Natividad Urias, her parents Cesario and Rafaela Alvarado, her two sons Efren and Oscar Urias, her grandson Armando Gonzalez, and her granddaughter Esmeralda Urias. A funeral mass was held at Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church of Van Horn on Saturday June 21, officiated by Father Saul Pacheco. A burial followed at the Van Horn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joel Sanchez, Chuyito Becerra, Michael Urias, Mundito Gandara, Polito Mora, Isidro Mora, Adrian Gonzalez, and Alexander Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers were Arianna Zacarias, Lillyanna Irasel Urias and Mindy Urias. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Carrillo Funeral Home of Van Horn.
