Comptroller distributes $603 million in sales tax revenue to local governments

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said today that state sales tax revenue in June was $2.24 billion, up 3.7 percent compared to June 2013.

“Sales tax revenues continue to grow at a moderate pace,” Combs said. “The increase was led by remittances from the wholesale trade, services, and restaurant sectors. Fiscal year-to-date collections have now grown by 5.2 percent.”

Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their July local sales tax allocations totaling $602.5 million, up 4.2 percent compared to July 2013.

Van Horn will receive a payment of $42,217.51. Last year, the city’s payment was $54,197.83, or a 22.10-percent decrease. However, 2014 payments still represent a 10.47-percent increase from 2013 payments. To date, the city has earned $351,513.99 in sales taxes.
