James D. Sprayberry, 68, Brazelton, Ga., died at the scene of this accident at about 1:35 a.m. on Wednesday. He was driving westbound on I-10 near mile marker 143 (about two miles from Van Horn city limits) when he lost control of his Dodge Ram pickup, according to Sheriff Oscar Carrillo. He said a deputy was patrolling I-10 when the officer came across a rollover accident. Mr. Sprayberry had been ejected from his pickup, and the evidence on the scene showed a large box of beer in the pickup bed, as well as a cooler filled with beer in the front seat. Mr. Carrillo said that he suspects driver fatigue as well as a likelihood that Mr. Sprayberry may have been intoxicated, based upon the evidence that officers found. Photo courtesy Sheriff’s Office
