Trustees have first meeting with recruiter for superintendent

CCAISD trustees on Monday held an informal session with Robert Brezina of Lead Your School to discuss criteria for the new superintendent.

Mr. Brezina told the trustees from the outset that he would be “straight forward,” and that he “would tell it like it is.”

His first question: What is the strongest aspect of your school system? The consensus answer from the board: staff.

Mr. Brezina, a former supertintendent for 30 years as well as a former successful coach, suggested that the next superintendent should consider a consolidation with Sierra Blanca and Valentine schools.

Trustees were asked to name some traits that would help fine-tune the search for the next superintendent. One by one, trustees gave their answers including:

Needs to work well under pressure
Finances
Team Player
Fairness
Vision
Ability to recognize short-term and long-term goals
Confident personality
Excellent communications skills
Integrity

Trustees will meet with Mr. Brezina during the next few months to discuss progress on the search. Interested and qualified applicants can apply on March 9. Applicants can send a curriculum vitae to [email protected]; or alternatively, applicants can visit leadyourschool.com or lead your school.blogspot.com for more information.

A lone finalist will be named on or about May 11 and the superintendent will be named on June 15.
