Eagles baseball team clinches tournament

The Eagles capped off the return of the Oasis in the Desert
Baseball Classic by finishing as the #1 seed in their pool and defeating the
Pecos Eagles JV team for the tournament championship.

The Eagles started off pool play by defeating the Alpine
Bucs JV team, 11-1. Fabien Baeza earned the win with 5 innings of great
pitching. In the second game of pool play, the Eagles defeated the Texas
Challenge Academy Braves, 15-0. Luis Urias earned his second win of the season
followed by a strong relief appearance by Rafael Rodriguez.

In the championship game of the tournament, the Eagles faced
the Pecos Eagles JV team. Van Horn started off by playing great defense led by
shortstop Sammy Quintana and third baseman Alex Urias. In the second inning, Jaime
Santa Cruz and Natan Arrazate got the bats going for the host team. Van Horn 10
run ruled Pecos to clinch the tournament championship.

The Eagles (4-4) will host the Kermit Yellow Jackets this
Thursday, March 19, followed by an away game against the Presidio Blue Devils this
Friday, March 20.
