Advocate subscribes to AP

Beginning with this edition, the Advocate will use stories from the Associated Press (AP).

Since 1846, the AP has been the standard in what was once called “the wire,” an electronic form of receiving news and photos. Much has changed since that time. Today, “the wire” from AP is no longer a clunky large machine that printed out on an old dot matrix printer.

The AP today is recognized as a world leader in all types of journalism, but especially for breaking news. AP reporters cover some of the most dangerous places in the world.
It would be unimaginable for a daily newspaper not subscribe to the AP or one of the other lesser known wire services. For a weekly newspaper, it’s a business decision that must be made whether to subscribe. We believe we’ve made the right decision.
