Culberson Hospital celebrates Employee Appreciation Day

Culberson
Hospital and the Van Horn Rural Health Clinic showed their appreciation for
hospital and clinic employees on Friday, September 18, with a special lunch and
door prizes.

“This annual celebration allowed us
to take time to express our thanks for what our employees do every day,” said Jonathon
Voelkel, hospital administrator. “I hope
everyone knows how much we appreciate their efforts, but it is also important
to periodically demonstrate our thanks.”

The catered lunch menu featured
pulled pork and brisket sandwiches with pinto beans and coleslaw. “Next year, we may ask Rose to bring the
barbeque, since she won the barbeque grill door prize,” laughed Chester
“Snuffy” Morris, who is responsible for Human Resources at Culberson
Hospital.

Other door prizes included a DVD
player, portable stereo Bluetooth speakers, Van Horn Eagles bench seats, a
Kindle Fire and numerous other prizes awarded to several employees during
lunch.

The hospital and clinic have 70
employees who provide outpatient care, emergency services and inpatient care,
with the hospital, providers and emergency medical services crew on duty
24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week.

“On an annual basis, these employees
are responsible for providing care to an estimated 100 observation and inpatients
and 1,600 emergency department patients, and recorded over 6,200 clinic visits,”
said Voelkel. “We welcome the
community to join us in a truly heartfelt ‘thank you’ for everything our
professional staff does day in and day out for Van Horn and the surrounding
region.”

Jonathon Voelkel, hospital administrator thanks Alicia
Quintana, Business Office, who won a new DVD player.

Armando Ulloa, Emergency Medical Services, receives a gardening
tool box from Voelkel.

Voelkel tries to convince Rose Corrales, Van Horn Rural
Health Clinic, that she should cook lunch for next year’s employee appreciation
day on the new grill she received.
