Protect our most valuable resource and participate

By Summer Webb, CCGWCD General Manager

The Culberson County Groundwater Conservation District will be holding a Public Hearing on April 13 at 2:00 p.m.  for three separate issues.  Among those issues is the request for public comment on export permits.  In accordance with Ch. 36, Groundwater Districts must have export permits, rules regarding export and Management Plans supporting those rules established by the Board of Directors after undergoing Public Hearings. The CCGCD understands that groundwater is the most important natural resource in our area and we feel the public will want to be involved in the rule making process, as it affects everyone in the county.  We encourage public comment in writing to be submitted to the General Manager by 4:00 p.m. on April 12, or by public comment during the hearing process on April 13.  We also encourage the public to familiarize themselves with Ch. 36 Groundwater Conservation Districts, Texas Water Code.  Public comment may be dropped off during posted business hours at 1300 W. Broadway, Van Horn, mailed to PO Box 1295, Van Horn, TX, 79855, or emailed to [email protected].  Feel free to contact me with any questions on submitting public comment.
