Obituary “Rita” Rodriguez

Aurora “Rita” Rodriguez, 84, a former restaurant owner and homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, April 3 in Decatur, Texas.

Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. John the Baptizer Catholic Church in Bridgeport, Texas with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. with rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Thomas Dsouza will officiate. Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Rita was born on August 30, 1931 to Sebero and Aurora (Esparza) Escajeda in Van Horn, Texas. She was united in marriage to Emilio G. Rodriguez on May 25, 1948 in Van Horn. Rita owned and operated Rita’s Five Café.  She was a member of St. John the Baptizer Catholic Church in Bridgeport.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Sam Rodriguez; her daughter, Little Eva Rodriguez; her granddaughter, Tiffany Lee; her brother, Carmen Escajeda; her sister, Nacha Ratliff.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Emilio Rodriguez of Bridgeport; her sons, Emilio Rodriguez Jr. and wife Karen of Red Oak, Jimmy Rodriguez and wife Irene of Dallas, Bobby Rodriguez and wife Corina of Bridgeport, daughter Eva Simecek and husband Joe of Duncanville, sister, Carmelita Hamblin, grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bethany, James and Lisette, Jeremy and Hannah, Robert, “Cory”, Iliana, Samuel, Andrew, Stephanie and Matthew and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
