Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I would like to express some concerns I have had lately about our community receiving the new pipeline employees.  Before they arrived, our town was known as friendly, caring and hospitable.  I’m afraid that our reputation is now at stake due to the greed of those taking advantage of our temporary residents.

Drastic rate hikes are hurtful to our permanant and traveling folks.  Word of mouth travels quickly in a small town and for some being spoken about it has gone from bad to worse.

I ask, where is the care and concern when an RV has mechanical problems and our current city oridinance dictates no overnight parking when there is no place at the Inn, (RV parks)?

The pipeline and their employees are spending a lot of money in Van Horn.  I fear for the long term effects this will have on or community.
