Rotary District Governor Dave Anderson from the Albuquerque Del Norte Club started his Rotary year with a visit to the Van Horn Rotary Club.   Anderson, and his wife Maureen, joined the members at their regular weekly meeting at Chuy’s Restaurant to discuss the upcoming club year.  He presented the club with the Rotary International Banner celebrating the 2016-2017 theme of “Rotary Serving Humanity” and outlined the visions and goals of Rotary District 5520. Anderson challenged the club to continue to grow its membership. The Van Horn Rotary Club received recognition from the District for increasing its membership in the prior year by over 50%; Anderson urged the members to continue this trend.

Anderson noted that this is the 100th Anniversary of the Rotary Foundation, and discussed possible grant projects the club could undertake this year.  Other goals include strengthening clubs, noting that the District leadership is available to provide assistance as needed, and building fellowship among the clubs in the District.

The Van Horn Rotary Club meets Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at Chuy’s Restaurant.  Individuals with a mindset of “Service Above Self”, (the Rotary motto), are encouraged to attend.  Contact any Rotary member for information or check out the Van Horn Rotary Club Facebook page.
