Where Are They Now? – Marjorie Bristow

Editor’s note: This feature is dedicated to profiling Van Horn High School Alumni and updating locals on what became of them after graduation.  The Advocate welcomes information for publication on VHHS Alumni and will try to highlight two Van Horn Eagles every week.

Marjorie Bristow graduated from Van Horn High School in 1970 and went straight to Sul Ross State University to major in education with the hopes of becoming a teacher.  She graduated in 1974 and was quickly hired to teach first and second grades at Balmorhea Elementary School.  She taught there for 2 years before moving to Sanderson to teach kindergarten for three years.  Her heart remained in Van Horn, so she jumped at the chance to return to Van Horn and teach kindergarten and second grade for 26 years before retiring.  Margie moved to Kerens, Texas in 2007 and worked at United Christian Fellowship at Navarro College for 7 years before retiring again.  She is doing what she loves now, rescuing dogs and horses and transporting them to the Corsicana Animal Shelter, and enjoying the country life with her life partner Julie, and her brother George,  sister-in-law, Sherri, as well as her nieces and nephew.
