Obituary- Margarita Martinez Monclova

Margarita Martinez Monclova of Van Horn, Texas closed her eyes to her earthly home on Monday, April 15, 2019 in Galveston, Texas and opened them to her heavenly home with her family by her side. She was 73.

Margarita was born on July 20th, 1945 in Van Horn, Texas to Victorino Martinez and Jesusita (Orozco) Ruiz. She attended Van Horn Schools. Margarita was widowed at an early age and raised her one son by herself.

Visitation for Margarita was held at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 19, 2019 followed by a prayer service at Templo Elim Assembly of God. Funeral Services was held on Friday, April 20, 2019 with Pastor Alfonso Trevino serving as officiate, burial followed at Van Horn Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were Matthew Monclova, Leroy Martinez, Curtis McKee, Rene Cruz, Cruz Licon, and Pete Majera. Honorary pallbearers were: Jimmy Garcia and Joe Martinez.

Margarita enjoyed making her famous fried chicken, enjoying her favorite sweet “Milky Way Candy.” She loved telling jokes, and making people laugh. She could often be found enjoying her morning coffee out of her favorite coffee mug “I’m not short, I am under tall” while watching the sunrise over the Van Horn Mountains. Upon visiting her home, she would never let anyone leave hungry. Her favorite memories of her golden years would be meeting Pastor Joel Osteen and getting to meet and to enjoy the lives of her grandchildren.

Preceding Margarita in death are her parents Victorino Martinez, and Jesusita Orosco Ruiz, her husband Jose Angle Monclova, her brother Manuel Orozco, Ruben Martinez, and Victor Martinez, and one sister Delia Martinez.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory is her son Matthew Monclova and wife Irene of Angleton, Texas, her brother Joe Martinez of Van Horn, sisters Dora Iglesisas of El Paso, Elva Martinez of Van Horn, Linda Tarango of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Sylvia McKee of Van Horn. Granddaughter Madeliene Melody and grandson Malachi Miles as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Monclova family entrusted Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas with arrangements.
