The Award-Winning Television Show Visited West Texas Town of Van Horn
VAN HORN, TX – The Texas Bucket List took a trip out west to find this week’s Bite of the Week. All the way in Van Horn, Texas is Mom’s Kitchen, a family run Mexican food restaurant located off Interstate 10.
Owner, Maggie Espinoza, decided to open Mom’s Kitchen after a 40-year career in hairdressing left her with a bad case of carpel tunnel, and traveling around the world left her missing home. As a lifelong resident of Van Horn and with a slew of family recipes already in her arsenal, opening a restaurant for those traveling east or west on the interstate seemed like a no brainer. Maggie’s entire family is involved in the operations, with husband, Oscar, and daughter, Betty, offering a helping hand in any way possible.
Mom’s Kitchen offers a vast array of authentic Mexican dishes. From her homemade salsa and trademark corn tortilla recipe, she learned how to cook everything from her mother. The dish featured on the episode is a combo special of some of Maggie’s favorites. It includes a hard taco, a red and green enchilada, and a classic side of rice and beans.
This episode will be airing during the weekend of February 14-16.
