Obituary— Thomas Roberts
Thomas Roberts, age 79, passed away in Valentine, Texas on February 22, 2020. Thomas came to Valentine in 1998 from Florence, Texas. He was a Sheriff for Jeff Davis County. He also served as Chief of Police in Florence, Texas and different counties and PD’s in New Mexico. Thomas served our country in the Marines from 1961-1967. He loved ranching when he was in his teens. He loved being around friends and family. He will be truly missed.
Thomas is survived by his wife Mary, his 4 sons, Carl Roberts of Oklahoma, Thomas Roberts, Jr. of Florida, Ben Roberts of Oklahoma, Richard Roberts of Alpine, Texas and his 2 daughters, Frances Bennett Gurley of Waco, Texas and Barbara Ellen Ward of Florida. He is also survived by his brother, John Roberts and his sister, Sara Sue Yeager, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Francis Roberts.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Alpine Civic Center.
