Eagles on top in Comanche Relays

This weekend, the Eagles traveled to Ft. Stockton to compete in the first track meet of the 2020 season. Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles came home with hard-earned medals that lead to a 2nd and 1st place standing in the meet overall. The Eagles ran away with 2nd place as a team. In contribution to this title, Elijah Gains secured the gold in triple jump and the silver in high jump. In addition, Bryce Virdell walked away with the gold in the long jump. To finish off the field-events, Emilio Tarango placed 3rd in discus and 4th in shot put. In regards to the running events, the Eagle relay team (Caleb Hinojos, Felipe Gonzales, Elijah Gaines, and Bryce Virdell) secured three medals: a silver for the 4×200 and two golds in the 4×100 and 4x400m. relays.

The Lady Eagle track team earned the championship title. To kick off the meet, the ladies secured three silver medals in their field-events. Destiny Rivera placed 2nd in both discus and shot put, and Elidia Mendes placed 2nd in triple jump. Additionally, two bronze medals were acquired to finish off the morning: Amaya Garibay in shot put, and Iris Urias in long jump. In the running events, the Lady Eagle 4x400m. relay team (Alex Fodge, Tanya Tarango, Ruby Valdez, and Iris Urias) placed 3rd. Individually, Clarissa De La O received 3rd place in the 100m. dash, and Alex Fodge placed 3rd in the 400m dash.

It was a great weekend to be an Eagle! Congratulations to all of our athletes. The hard work and dedication that has been shown will definitely lead to a successful season. Come out and support the team as they travel to Sanderson this Friday, March 7th. The Track Coaching Staff is hoping for another successful meet.
