Obituary— Maria Carrasco

Maria Carrasco, a lifelong resident of Van Horn peacefully entered eternal life with her beloved family by her side on Monday, June 15, 2020 she was 85.

Maria was born to Clemente Herrera and Teresa Elizondo on December 27, 1934 in Coahuila, Mexico. Maria was a lifelong resident of Van Horn and battled cancer for 20 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Van Horn Cemetery Gazebo with burial to follow with Father Marcos Rene Perez serving as Celebrant. With special music by Maria’s grandson Luis Miguel Rangel.

Those honoring Maria by serving as pallbearers are Diego Lee Garcia, Joseph Martin Carrasco, Matthew Enriquez, Rene Mendoza, Daniel Rangel, Omar Rangel, Luis Fabian Herrera, Ricardo Jamivel Alvizo and Andres Herrera.

Maria was a homemaker who loved having that first cup of coffee in the morning to start her day of right. She loved to have family and friends visiting her, and she made sure to feed each one of them no matter if they wanted to eat or not. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren. She was a very kind and giving person never declining not to help anyone that might need assistance. Her favorite color was black, she loved to play Loteria and enjoyed watching Caso Cerrado.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents Clemente and Teresa Herrera; her husband Valentine Carrasco; two sons Omar Carrasco and Victoriano Carrasco; one grandson Andy Carrasco.

Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Maria is her son Sergio Carrasco of Presidio; daughters Cruz Parada of Van Horn, Teresa Vidana of Bridgeport, Texas, Imelda Enriquez of Aubry, Texas; Hilda Drum of Athens, Georgia, Raquel Mendoza of Van Horn and Alicia Rangel of Andrews, Texas; one brother Pedro Herrera of Coahuila, Mexico; sisters Enedina Escamilla of Eagle Pass, Texas, Luz Herrera of Coahuila, Mexico, Elvira Herrera of Coahuila, Mexico and Stella Herrera of Coahuila, Mexico. As well as 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and all her beloved friends.

Maria will be greatly missed by those whose life she lovingly touched.

Services have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn, Texas.
