Obituary— Charlsie Gary
Charlsie Norene “Bebe” “Gankie” Waldrip Gary, 90 years young, of Van Horn, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2020, after a strong courageous fight with Covid-19. She was born on a beautiful sunny day in Texas on September 26, 1929. She married the love of her life RG “Buddy” Gary in 1950.
Charlsie is survived by her baby boy, Stuart Reagan Gary, caring daughter in law, Mary Ann Gary, dotting daughter, Shelley Duryea Gary, close-knit grandchildren, Chad Harris, Cody B Harris, Zach Gary, Stuart Reagan Gary Jr., Lindsey Solis, Karli Gary, sweet great grandchildren Haden Harris, Owen Harris, and Rolando Nicolas Solis, and adoring step grandchildren Stacie Harris and Tabitha Harris. She was predeceased by her loving and adoring husband RG “Buddy” Gary and her dear son, Ricky Scott Gary.
Charlsie was the personification of a strong Texas gal, the whit of a firecracker and elegance of a fine wine. With a strong taste for literature, she had a library full of novels she loved passing along to friends and family. She always had a story to tell, a joke to engage in, and a sharp rule of thumb to follow. Once a dedicated member of the iconic “Red Hats”, she loved to socialize, commandeer an audience, and had many friends who will miss her dearly. Her memory will live on when a wind chime sings, a cardinal chirps, and with a turn of a page of a true love novel. She was the matriarch of the Gary family and held that title with pride and honor. She is now reunited with her late husband, son, friends, and family who awaited her journey to Heaven. We love you, Gankie, always and forever, until we meet again in the clouds.
