The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) website is reporting 13 people testing positive for COVID-19 in Culberson County as of press time yesterday evening, July 22.
Of these 13 cases, 9 remain active, 3 have recovered and there has been 1 fatality. The first case was logged by DSHS on June 20 and the case number remained low for almost 3 weeks, then showing a four day climb to 13.
Neighboring Hudspeth County has 2 active cases of the 18 total with 16 recovered. Of the 7 cases reported in Jeff Davis County, 4 remain active and 3 have recovered and there are 0 fatalities. Of the 99 positive cases in Reeves County, 41 are active, 49 have recovered and there are 2 fatalities.
Although the number of positive cases in Brewster County has climbed to 162, only 40 are listed as active with 121 recovered and 1 fatality. Presidio County has reported 28 positive cases with 11 active, 17 recovered, and 0 fatalities.
A total of 12,297 coronavirus cases and 196 deaths have been recorded in El Paso County.
Texas reported 9,879 new cases of coronavirus and 197 deaths Wednesday as cases continue to surge across the state and the U.S.
