Several “guests” at the local Sands Motel were arrested on drug charges after Culberson County Sheriff’s department officers raided the establishment last week. On Monday, August 17, at around 4:30 p.m., deputies arrested a local man at the motel on alleged charges of possession of a felony amount of meth and drug paraphernalia. The suspect is free at this time on a $30,000 bond.

Later that evening, deputies continued to watch the motel and arrested a Sierra Blanca woman who was observed leaving a room that had been under surveillance for suspected drug activity. Deputies followed the woman to the parking lot at Loves Travel Stop located at 810 E. Broadway in Van Horn just east of the motel, where she was arrested for alleged possession of a felony amount of meth and taken into local custody, where she remains.

On Tuesday, August 18, around midnight, Sheriff’s deputies again raided the Sands Room 21, and arrested another woman from Artesia, New Mexico, for alleged Felony 2 amount of meth possession. She is still in local custody.
