Obituary— Ernest Tinsley Means
Ernest Tinsley Means passed away in Van Horn, Texas on January 18, 2022 just shy of his 92nd birthday. He was born on March 18, 1930 in El Paso, Texas to the legendary Evans Means and Louise Muck.
He was blessed with a positive attitude and some loyal friends that provided a good life in the mountains between Van Horn and Valentine where he lived all his life. Nothing made him happier than hunting for arrowheads, breaking an obstinate horse, hunting game for rich men who couldn’t shoot and tending the beloved peach trees he planted at the Vieja Pass Ranch.
Though he missed out on the fortune that became the ranch, his own fortune lives on in the lives he touched, knowing his courage in the face of hardship, his stories, and his good heart. He will be missed.
A memorial service for Tinsley will be announced at a later date.
