DODGE CITY– Our beautiful Dana Vale, peacefully drifted away Sunday,
June 2, 2013 with her family around her. She was born February 26, 1962
to Delbert and Eva Vale.Dana was known by her spirit, generosity and
creativity. Dana had a passion for recycling products and rehabilitating
people. She was one of a few people who formed CREW. She served on the
area Mental Heath Board and was currently serving on the G.I. Forum
Board. She volunteered for Women’s Chamber, Big Sisters, League of
Women’s Voters and helped to found the Domestic Violence program with
Eva Vale and others. Until they got the funding for a safe house Dana
and Eva both opened their house to women and children seeking safe
haven. Dana knew no strangers, helping many with housing, funds, jobs,
transportation, food, a shoulder or and ear. She went on to work for
the Dodge City Public Library these last years and it was a match made
in heaven. Meeting and greeting, seeking knowledge, helping others to
find what they sought is what she loved and the people she helped. Dana
is survived by 2 sons, Houston and Vaughn Hornberger; her father,
Delbert Vale; 2 brothers, Derek and Daryl Vale, and her sister, Denise
Hardy. She is preceded in death by her mother Eva Vale and sister,
Cassandra. Please join us for a celebration of Dana’s life, June 22,
2013 at the Dodge City Public Library from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for
friends and family to gather. On your way to or from the service please
drop off your recyclables at the CREW Center on Military Ave. or at the
Civic Center on Central Ave. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a
donation to your special charity would be appreciated in care of Ziegler
Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave, Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
