Dear Editor:
I wanted to write to say a great big THANK YOU to the volunteer fire departments of Culberson and Hudspeth Counties. If not for their prompt and efficient attention to the recent fire at the gravel pit in Alamoore, I fear we would have experienced another rock house grass fire incident.
Special thanks goes to the Culberson County members who not only worked diligently to control the fire at the location, they spent extra time and energy staying late into the evening making sure all embers were extinguished.
We are very fortunate to have the volunteers we have here in Van Horn who work, without pay, time and again to save our town from harm. The next time you see one of our volunteers, be sure to tell them how much you appreciate them, they deserve it.
Sincerely,
The Entire McVay Family
