Sanderson had two runners finish in front of Latham as Joey Carrasco won the state meet and Jesse Roberts finished in 5th Place. A runner from Veribest finished in second place. These four young men finished as the top four runners at the Regional Meet held in San Angelo on Saturday, Nov. 1.
Latham will now concentrate on basketball, track, and golf for the rest of the year. He is recognized as one of the best basketball players in this area and is a two-time state qualifier in track in the High Jump.
Doug Cook, his golf coach has high expectations for him this year in golf as well.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Latham as a sophomore and now in his senior year and I can truthfully say that I have had few athletes with the same work ethic that this young man has. He is constantly trying to improve himself and that work ethic will take him far in life. Latham Garnsey is an outstanding athlete as well as being a well-rounded student and I expect that he will continue to excel in all of his future endeavors.â€
