The McCamey High School UIL Academic tournament was held last Saturday, and the VHHS Speech Team walked away with First Place.
Kyle Seyffert took First Place place in Informative and Persuasive Speaking, Camille Uranga earned 2nd Place in Informative Speaking, Luna Urias received 4th Place in Poetry Interpretation, and in Prose Interpretation, Noah Garcia received 2nd Place, Camille Uranga earned 3rd Place and Darden Morris placed 4th.
Most of these students, along with a few others, will be traveling to compete in the Sonora Speech Tournament on Friday.
Also, in the academic events competition, Carlos Guerrero took 4th Place in Social Studies, and 6th Place in 12th -grade Science. In 9th Grade Number Sense category, Jackie Santa Cruz received 4th Place, and Isaac Baeza earned 5th Place.
In 9th grade Mathematics, Jackie Santa Cruz took 4th Place, Justice Santa Cruz 5th Place, and Isaac Baeza 6th Place. Finally in 9th Grade Calculator, Isaac Baeza received 3rd Place, Crystal Baeza took 4th place in 10th Grade Calculator, Sahil Damniwalla received 6th Place. Manav Patel earned 3rd Place in 11th Grade Science and 3rd Place in 11th Grade Calculator, and Fabian Baeza placed 6th in 11th Grade Calculator.
