Early Saturday morning, Dec.10, the VHHS Speech Team made up of Samantha Cabezuela, Viviana Sanchez , Hiram Cruz, and Ryan Corrales left before dawn to compete in the Eastlake High School TFA QUALIFYING Meet in El Paso
The girls competed in Prose Interpretation, Hiram competed in Poetry, and Ryan in Foreign Extempt. Samantha made the Semi-final round, then the Finals, ultimately placing 6th.
Twenty two El Paso and area schools were at the tournament, and although Samantha was the only one
to advance all four did very well, and we expect them to be among the medalists soon, too.
The team’s next outing will be after the new year, in McCamey. Until then we’ll be practicing hard and honing our skills.
