The Wildcats found the end zone once in the final minutes of the 4th quarter as the defense held them scoreless throughout the contest. Senior Defensive Backs Jano Corrales and Rudy Estrada wreaked havoc on Anthony’s passing game and each recorded two interceptions. Defensive Lineman Cory Schuller anchored the defensive line and had six solo tackles, including two quarterback sacks.

Four different Eagles combined for ten touchdowns and amassed 571 total yards on offense. QB Jermaine Corrales went 5-9 passing, 124 yards, and two touchdowns. Josh Mendez led all rushers with 206 yards on 26 carries, including two touchdowns. Aaron Urias made some amazing plays and had another great game. He scored four times and had five receptions for 124 yards.

Head Coach Brock Tyrrell said, “I’m very proud of how hard our boys played! We’ve coached them hard on “the little things”, attention to detail, family and flat out hard work. They excelled in all of those this game. They played for each other and not themselves and it really made a difference. We will continue to build on this fundamental foundation for success as we continue through the season. The athletic department would like to thank the community for your continued support of Van Horn Athletics. Eagle Pride Never Dies!”

The Eagles will be at home tomorrow to host the Seagraves Eagles for a non-district game. Fans, you do make a difference! We hope to see the seats filled again to cheer on our Eagles. Kickoff is slated for 7:30, see you at the game.
