Van Horn agents seized over 500 pounds of pot

Van Horn, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over 500 pounds of marijuana smuggled into the United States within the last two days.

On March 10, 2020, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Van Horn Station were assisted by CBP Air and Marine Operations, Alpine Air Unit, when they apprehended two subjects and seized approximately 230 pounds of marijuana contained in four burlap backpacks and concealed in the brush.

Both subjects apprehended are citizens of Mexico. The Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the marijuana and subjects. Prosecution of the case is pending.

On March 11, 2020, while conducting normal patrol duties, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Van Horn Station encountered five burlap bundles of marijuana concealed in the brush. No individuals were found with the marijuana, which weighed over 280 pounds.

The marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
