Rick Gray, MHA
Hospital Administrator | Culberson Hospital
This week’s update on the COVID-19 virus continues with some positive news for our community and county. Out of 254 Texas counties, 219 counties are reporting COVID-19 cases. I can report that we have tested a total of 15 total patients and all have tested negative as of May 12, 2020. Culberson, Hudspeth, and Jeff Davis counties continue to have zero reported cases of COVID-19.
While the state of Texas begins the re-opening of non-essential services and eases the restrictions on businesses and communities, please continue to use the precautions and be aware of your surroundings. Using all the precautions of hand-washing, wearing masks, disinfecting surfaces, and social distancing appears to be working to slow the spread of the virus.
At this time, we are still screening visitors and patients at the hospital and clinic and ask that the precautions that we have put in place for everyone’s safety continue to be followed for everyone’s benefit.
Van Horn Rural Health Clinic is open and available for both telemedicine and regular clinic appointments for our patients. Providers can be seen at 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patients should contact 432-283-1020 and speak with our staff about which type of appointment would work best for you and your health concerns.
One major factor of recovering from the COVID-19 virus is a patient’s overall health condition. Make sure in addition to the precautions outlined for safety, you maintain a healthy diet and regular physical activity. If you have other medical conditions that are currently being treated, make sure you get those addressed and stay in the best possible health you can which can only provide benefits for your overall health and increase your immune system to fight off viruses and illness.
We will continue to provide these updates while we care for our communities during this time. Please call 432-283-2760 if you should have any questions.
