“Eternal Investment”

By Pastor Donald Parker

Many people are planners. They plan out their week. They plan their vacations. They plan for retirement. They plan for dying, by purchasing life insurance and having a will in place and in some cases prepay for their funerals. Now, don’t misunderstand me, I believe all this planning is a good thing.

But when our life ends, who is all this planning for? We spend so much time, money and effort trying to make sure that our loved ones are cared for when we die. There’s nothing wrong with any of that in and of itself. As parents we hope to live a long life, and enjoy time with our children and grandchildren. We hope that we’re able to leave them a little something.

But here’s the deal; when our time on this earth comes to an end, our planning, our savings, our retirement, our prepaid funeral, might make things a little easier for our children. They might have a few things to remember us by, and maybe a few dollars put away for them, but that’s not what they want. You see, it’s not the material things left behind that they want, they want you. They want to be able to see you again someday.

You see, for some people they have invested everything they have in this world, but haven’t invested in their own eternity. Let me explain, when we buy life insurance, and pay on it for years, it’s not for us, it is for the beneficiaries of that policy [our spouse or children].

But the question I have for you is, have you accepted the free life insurance policy offered to you by Jesus Christ? The premiums have been paid in full by Jesus Christ on the cross. This is an insurance policy that gives you something; eternal life in heaven.

You know what else it offers you? A reunion with all your friends and family members who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, together for all eternity in heaven. No other life insurance policy offers anything for the person who dies. This life insurance policy is just what it says; LIFE and it’s FREE!

Romans 3:23-25 says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.”

When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the premiums for everyone’s life insurance policy; and when he rose to life on the third day, he conquered death. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you too will conquer death.

But here’s what you need to understand, Jesus doesn’t force his life insurance policy on anyone. It is however, free for those who will accept it. What you need to understand is when God created you, he created you to live forever, but where you spend eternity is up to you. You will either spend eternity forever with Jesus, or forever separated from Jesus.

The only way to guarantee you can cash in on this life insurance policy is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said himself in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus said, he is the only way, to the Father; the only way to heaven.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.” You need to understand that there isn’t anything you can do on your own to get into heaven. You can’t be good enough to get into heaven, and you can’t buy your way into heaven.

To obtain this free life insurance policy offered to you today, is you must confess to God that you are a sinner and repent from your sins. To repent means to change direction and start following Jesus Christ. And believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose to life three days later.

Right there where you sit reading this article, you can obtain your eternal life insurance policy if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I encourage you to do so, don’t put it off another day.
